Happy Easter 2012

Here's hopping that your sun will shine,
your eggs don't crack,
your chocolate doesn't melt,
and your day goes all sparkly and glitterly!!

The Young May Moon

The young May moon is beaming, love.
The glow-worm's lamp is gleaming, love.
How sweet to rove,
Through Morna's grove,
When drowsy world is dreaming, love!
Then awake! - - the heavens look bright, my dear,
And the best of all ways
To lengthen our days
Is to steal a few hours from the night, my dear!

A Bird Came Down the Walk

A Bird came down the Walk --
He did not know I saw --
He bit an Angleworm in halves
And ate the fellow, raw,

And then he drank a Dew
From a convenient Grass --
And then hopped sidewise to the Wall
To let a Beetle pass --

He glanced with rapid eyes
That hurried all around --
They looked like frightened Beads, I thought --
He stirred his Velvet Head

Like one in danger, Cautious,
I offered him a Crumb
And he unrolled his feathers
And rowed him softer home --

Than Oars divide the Ocean,
Too silver for a seam --
Or Butterflies, off Banks of Noon
Leap, splashless as they swim.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Since my birthday was celebrated last weekend with all the other March birthdays I went about business as usual today. However, the celebration was really great, mom and Edmond had a pizza party. Yea!  No cooking and cleaning for me. I got one of those nifty little creative momories paper/picture cutters, a huge box of mixed Dove chocolates (HANDS OFF GUYS!!), some money, and 7 new vegetarian/vegan cookbooks from hubby (we have a Borders that is closing up and books are 50-60% off). Tonight I spent the evening with my free birthday drink from Starbucks - a Soy White Chocolate Mocha Latte Decaf with no whip and on the computer blogging a little and reading Appetite for Reduction. It was a great day!

A Prayer In Spring

Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers today;
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year.

Oh, give us pleasure in the orcahrd white,
Like nothing else by day, like ghosts by night;
And make us happy in the happy bees,
The swarm dilating round the perfect trees.

And make us happy in the darting bird
That suddenly above the bees is heard,
The meteor that thrusts in with needle bill,
And off a blossom in mid air stands still.

For this is love and nothing else is love,
To which it is reserved for God above
To sanctify to what far ends he will,
But which it only needs that we fulfill.

Grandma's Easter Eggs

Grandma's Easter Eggs

1 bag flake coconut
1 ½ pounds powered sugar
2 Tablespoons vanilla
¼ pound butter plus 1/8 cube
1/2 cup chopped maraschino cherries, drained
1 cup chopped pecan
6 Hershey milk chocolate bars

Mix all the ingredients together except the chocolate bars. Blend well. Chill over night in the refrigerator. The next day mold the mixture into egg shapes. Chill about 1 hour, then dip into melted chocolate bars. Place back into the refigerator until chocolate is solid. Then serve.

Grandma got this Recipe from Her Friend, Clare Stremlau In 1946. Every Easter she made them for my mother and her brother.

Rain, Rain, Rain

Okay, enough with the rain dance little man!! We have had 18 days of straight rain. The plants are loving it.

The white peonies are blooming away.

The pink ones are too, however they are taking a beating.

Our little lemon tree is putting out this years fruit.

Its even popping up new blossoms everywhere. Oh, it does smell dreamy.

But on the serious side - today we had some sunshine but it began raining again tonight. The boys and I grabbed at the chance to get out in the muggy sunshine and went to the library to get study material for the next two weeks, picked up meds at the pharmacy, visited April where we got onion set to put out. Then we came home and watched Prince Caspian, Papa came home, we made tacos for dinner, Collin fixed the tire on his little brother's bike, Kody & Joseph went to spend the night with granny, Collin worked three more pages of math and then it started to rain and thunder again. Another all night down pour.
